THOR LOVE AND THUNDER
MIEK’S WHITE BOARD DOODLES
PROJECT: THOR LOVE AND THUNDER (2022)
STUDIO: Marvel Studios
DIRECTOR: Taika Waititi
VFX SUPERVISOR: Jake Morrison
ABOUT: Filmmakers saw a fun opportunity for an easter egg on Miek’s whiteboard and asked me to ‘doodle’ the entire story of Love And Thunder, inspired by the style of some of Taika’s original drawings from early production.
JANE FOSTER MAGAZINE COVERS DESIGN/COPY
PROJECT: THOR LOVE AND THUNDER (2022)
STUDIO: Marvel Studios
DIRECTOR: Taika Waititi
VFX SUPERVISOR: Jake Morrison
ABOUT: Working with Filmmakers, helped create a series of original magazine cover designs for props used in Jane and Thor’s story montage.
These are the 2 designs which made it into the final film.
GORR’S YURT WALL SCRAWLING / ALPHABET
PROJECT: THOR LOVE AND THUNDER (2022)
STUDIO: Marvel Studios
DIRECTOR: Taika Waititi
VFX SUPERVISOR: Jake Morrison
ABOUT: Filmmakers wanted to add additional wall art to further illustrate Gorr’s dark state of mind and plans to use Storm Breaker. Text I used for the scrawled writings was inspired by text from the screenplay and comics. Earlier scribbles and symbol designs looked too artificial and repetitive, so I chose to create an original alphabet and produce the text and character icon elements by hand to help give it a more realistic and primitive feel.
THOR’S CELL PHONE GRAPHIC / DESIGN
PROJECT: THOR LOVE AND THUNDER (2022)
STUDIO: Marvel Studios
DIRECTOR: Taika Waititi
VFX SUPERVISOR: Jake Morrison
ABOUT: Thor’s incoming cell phone call graphics. Filmmakers intentionally wanted to have Fury come up as Nick ‘Furry’.
MIGHTY THOR STATUE CONCEPT ART
PROJECT: THOR LOVE AND THUNDER (2022)
STUDIO: Marvel Studios
DIRECTOR: Taika Waititi
VFX SUPERVISOR: Jake Morrison
ABOUT: Helping Filmmakers find the right pose for the Mighty Thor statue, I developed this concept drawing to depict our ever vigilant hero’s sense of power and strength, like she’s always ready to ‘Bring the rainbow’ to defend New Asgard.
The brilliant artists at Raynault VFX were able to take the drawing and turn it into the amazing 3D sculpture that appears in the final film.
